Can't talk about American cinema without tripping over a remake, can we?

The Irish actor from The IT Crowd was the protagonist's love interest in Bridesmaids. I hear the show is finished, although it is likely to have a Christmas special in the future.

@Renee - i must be on a roll this week - I made you feel worse and tried to kill AveryDoll's soul... now if I could only capture that in a work of fiction, I'd be all set (for something).

The Irish guy was in Bridesmaids too. I love the IT crowd. That show is flippin' hilarious.

It seems to be, but it's not as if American sitcoms don't have their own Christmas-themed show. But they're just counted as just another episode rather than a special. I don't think there's really a difference besides the classification.
As I wrote on page 1,the success of Bridesmaids has killed The IT Crowd.

We look forward to the Doctor Who Christmas Special every year, I like the way the BBC does them because they are sort of teasers for the new season after a long dry spell.
Anyway, the take home message I am looking for here: see Bridesmaids because I love the guy from the IT Crowd, or skip it, as it may ruin me for that actor?

Nah, see it. The movie is pretty good. I'm saying that the movie has made him such a huge star that he will probably never be on a tv show again. Also The IT Crowd is finished besides one last Christmas special (assuming it happens). I put 2 and 2 together and assumed his new found stardom killed the show considering the timing when it comes to when the announcement that the show was over occurred.

Oh, okay. I spent all this time thinking Bridesmaids was a chick flick, maybe I'll rent it tonight while Husband and I are packing for our trip.

I'd probably watch anything with John Ham in it to be honest.

Bridesmaids is sort of an anti-chick flick with chicks. That's what is cool about it. I think it's for women who hate chick flicks, I thought it was hilarious.

I think British comedy far exceeds American comedy, although some of my favorite comedies are American (Fraiser, Arrested Development) I think they have a lot of British comedy in them.

I agree, Jay. I got into Doctor Who years ago and through that started watching a lot of BBC shows, and (unrelated) ended up marrying a Brit--I enjoy British comedy a lot more than American. I definitely think Arrested Development has a Brit-comedy feel to it, which is probably why Husband and I both enjoy watching it so much.

Arrested Development is hands down the greatest american television show to come out in a long time. Thank god they're bringing it back(only through Netflix, but still) and that there will be a movie. Can't wait

I would think "Less Than Zero" would be in more desperate need of a remake, considering it's over 20 years old and didn't have a single scene or line of dialogue from the book. American Psycho the movie is pretty close to the book in my opinion, but then Hollywood is always full of bad ideas...

I'm partial to anything featuring Robert Downey Jr. Pre/Post or during his drug issues...with the possible exception of Ally McBeal, which I never watched.
